Stuart Vázquez (drums, percussion)

Originally self-taught himself, his brothers taught him his first class of music reading. His first experience was in pop music. Stuart developed his style practicing different genres of music and attending different workshops at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Escuela Superior de Música of México City, Berklee College of Music.
He is influenced in Afro-Cuban and Caribbean rhythms by people like Pedro Bolaños, Egui Castrillo, Jesús Diaz and Charly Chávez among others. He has attended workshops and private sessions with drummers like Waldo Madera, Antonio Sánchez, David Garibaldi and the great inspiration Robby Ammen. Stuart has participated with different projects playing Rock, Salsa, Funk, Jazz and others different pop styles in México and USA.
He also works within music education doing clinics, workshops and privates classes. He has been working with the dance community since 1999, creating music for dance performances, and creating and co-directing the dance project Jazz Bajo Percusion. His personal project PERCUSIONANDO is a wide mixing of drums, percussions and beats. With this project he recorded a CD titled Naturaleza Humana (Human Nature) using just percussion and drums celebrating drumming around the world. Now, he plays in different projects, teaches percussion and drumset and works for some dance teachers in Seattle.
