Didgeri Dudes!

This Tuesday June 17th, we enjoyed the music of Stuart Dempster and Brian Pertl. Both of these extrodinary musicians have been on the Seattle music scene for many years. Stuart has played and recorded many times in the Cistern Chappel at Fort Warden in Port Townsend. We got a chance to talk to him about his many musical experiences and ejoyed some great music too. Here's a little clip of the performance.

Concert Review: Herbie Hancock @ Benaroya Hall

river_120.jpgLast night we had the pleasure of seeing Jazz legend Herbie Hancock. I remember I was in the sixth grade at Robert Gray Middle School in Portland, OR. During lunch kids were break-dancing in the gym and listening to Herbie Hancock’s famous song "Rockit". I recognized the name Herbie Hancock from my dad’s record collection. I asked dad “Isn’t Herbie a Jazz guy?” Dad: “When he chooses to be.” Ever since I have listened to Herbie and enjoyed all his different styles of music making. Last night I finally got to see Herbie for the first time and he didn’t disappoint. His band was rounded out by world class musicians: Chris Potter-tenor saxophone, Dave Holland-bass, Vinny Colaiuta-drums, and Lionel Lueke- guitar, all of which lead their own groups and frequently play Jazz Alley. They played songs from Herbie’s newest CD, River” which won “Album of the Year” at the Grammys. They also played many of his famous songs including Maiden Voyage, and Chameleon. It was a top notch performance from arguably the most famous Jazz musician ever. It’s even better when you are in the sixth row in front of the piano.

Panther Attack @ Georgetown Music Festival

I spent the better part of Saturday at the Seattle Drum School booth handing out 5 cent T-shirts as part of the Georgetown Music Festival. I saw every band on Saturday. These guys were by far my favorite band of the day. The only disapointing thing was my camera battery ran out after just a few minutes. Enjoy Panther Attack! You can also check out their myspace page.
